September was Dinosaur Month here at FunShine, and as always the prehistoric lessons were very popular with the kids! Dinosaur Month usually makes even the quietest students eager to use English to talk about cool giant reptiles, so many students make big progress in this month every year.

Are we sleeping on the job? No! We are measuring how long dinosaurs were in units of FunShine kids. For example, Stegosaurus was about 5 K3s, 3 K2s and 2 K1s long.

Like every month, we explored our theme with cool crafts and games. K1s made hatching Triceratops eggs and K2s and 3s made full-grown dinosaurs from their own imaginary worlds. To study the “Good Mother” dinosaur, Maiasaura, we played a giant board game with the kiddies as the pieces.

Other fun activities were our dinosaur park on the wall, where the kids placed each new dinosaur we studied in its correct habitat and herbivore day where the kids stretched their necks like Diplodocus to eat leaves from the trees. To wrap up Dino studies, we staged our own Extinction Level Event with some cute fiery asteroids and adorable dying trees and animals…

Of course, September also means getting ready for Sports Day. In between Dino homerooms and school subjects, we did gymnastics, dancing and even some crafting of costumes, in preparation for Sports Day. How did it turn out? Well, that’s a story for another blog entry…

Thanks for reading! Check in next month for FeinShun School of Witchcraft and Wizardry…
